Most of us can testify to having heard a hunch and not following it, at least once in their life. Humans are blessed with an inner-compass that points out independently towards a direction, which may not be the same as the one of our desires or even our logical thinking. Those attuned spiritually to this inner voice (compass) may stop a minute to contemplate it, but most of us deny its validity, simply because we may feel it is an unprovable source of knowledge that is unworthy of following during the process of logical choice-making.
Yet, how many times have we heard a voice saying in our heads: “Had you listened to me, this would’ve/ wouldn’t have happened.” The voice we hear is the voice of our inner compasses, our souls, our true self.
In this light, I wrote this poem. Please let me know what you think of it:
By Razan Z. Kilani
What will I tell you, myself, should you keep asking me:
“What would you have become had you listened to me?”
Even if I die while pursuing my dreams, content I shall be,
For the feeling of having missed anything shall cease to be,
The more I challenge myself, the bigger my satisfaction will be.
So go on in your life, and never forget to enjoy its beauty.
